Towman Bill Of Rights The right to public respect for the critical work towmen perform on the roads of the world; including the right to be considered a professional for the skills, knowledge and risks required on the job. The right to do business in an open, free marketplace, including the freedom to serve the motorist who requests towing services by company name under reasonable conditions. The right to be paid fair market-value rates and profit from all services rendered, including the right to be compensated for towing derelict vehicles and police cars. The right to charge fees in proportion to road and weather condition; job and skill level requirements. The right to be an active member of the incident management team, including the control of the roadside safety and clearing procedures. The right to benefits and protection associated with other emergency services, including the right to be held harmless during an emergency response. The right to dispose of abandoned vehicles. The right of arbitration and fair hearings related to government contracts. The right to offer roadside services to city and state agencies, free of low-bid prodecures that foster un-safe conditions for the public. The right to negotiate fair contracts with motor clubs; including terms that require advance notice on significant changes altering the servicer-club relationship. The right to be a towman and have a home life, i.e., provide emergency road service to the public and still be able to tend to family needs. |
